Hey everybody. I'm about the replace the wood in the bed of my 1/2 ton, and
was hoping someone could share some experience with me. I've about decided
that I can't beat the prices locally that suppliers are charging for pre-cut
bed wood strips, so I'm getting ready to order a set. I'm probably going to
go with yellow pine, which I understand is what originally came with the
truck. My question is: Is there much difference in the quality of wood
provided through the various vendors? What should I look out for? I plan
to finish the wood myself, but should I order the strips pre-drilled? I am
currently looking at a couple of suppliers -- Jim Carter and an outfit I
found on the Internet called "Mar-K" that seems to specialize in bed wood.
Prices are about the same. Has anyone done business with Mar-K before and
were you satisfied? How about Jim Carter for wood? I've bought a fair
amount of parts from them and have been generally satisfied, but didn't know
anything about replacement wood. Are there other suppliers that people on
the list would recommend? I would appreciate your sharing your experience.
