Sounds like you're having a great time Paul! One question; did you
happen to note how much the front end dropped from the weight, once you
added the engine and tranny combination? I'm a bit behind you and am
looking to set up my new rear leaf suspension. I want to make sure that
when I set the height of the rear that it will not be below the front
height. Do you think you got 1 or 2 inches of drop after adding the
weight in the front?
BTW, I talked to Sam from Shadetree Mechanic at the Worcester, MA
carshow last week. He had his '54 GMC with him. He gave me quite a few
tips on suspension setup and engine placement. I'm taking his advice
and straightening out the line of the rear leafs to make them parallel
instead of "toed-in" on the original frame. This is necessitating some
custom crossmember and bracketry fabrication.
Hope next weekend is as good as the last for you!
