Rob,
Not sure if your looking for the low buck build or the under the cab
type but I'll give you the meager knowledge that I have on both.
#1. The low buck way is to get one from a bone yard. And make it
fit your firewall. With this set up you'll have to convert
your brake pedal to the swing type. Also the firewall isn't
strong enough for the pressure that will be applied during
braking so it'll have to be reinforced. There's an excellent
article in the tech section at chevytrucks.org I believe. If not
there, and your interested let me know and I'll look over my
info. at home for you.
#2. This step is much easier but not without it consequences.
Most all of the venders that sell parts for our trucks sell
bolt on kits. They bolt right to the frame in the original spot
under the cab.I believe they come with master cylinder,
proportioning valve and all hardware. The only drawbacks to
this that I can see is that It's probably more expensive and you
still have to add brake fluid thru the floor board.
Well thats the extent of my knowledge on this subject. So I'll leave
the rest to any number of guys on the list with more gray matter than me:)
