on for about a month, so hope I get it right this time. It never showed on
my list. First off, I'd like to thank everyone for all the helpful
information I've picked up reading your messages. It's been a ton of help!
Secondly, I'd like to ask anyone if they know where I could get the complete
parking brake setup for a 57 3/4 ton Chevy. It's a 283 with the optional 4
speed on the floor. It originally had a band type parking brake on the
drive shaft, but the PO removed every bit of the brake assy from the brake
lever back. I need some type of parking brake, but I'm on a tight budget.
The rear wheel plates have no options for adding a rear-wheel type parking
brake, as the only holes in the backing plate are the slots for brake
adjustment. I'm considering replacing the whole axle assy with one that had
rear-wheel parking brakes, but the cost may be prohibitive. Any ideas?
Also, I found a phone number for anyone wishing to get a free Restoration
Package from Chevy Trucks, if you all haven't already. It includes complete
engineering specifications for your year truck, and also a very long list of
parts vendors for classic Chevy's. Mine is over 200 pgs on the 57 models
alone. Good info free by calling 1-800-222-1020. All they'll want is your
Vehicle Identification Number, and they'll mail it to you free!
