I'll have to second that Scott.
Many parts may very well be made overseas, however, the quality may be not
much better than the domestic producers. Yes. There is the myth that
Japanese, Chinese, or Korean products are inferior. That was largely due
to post-WW I industrial boom in these countries (400% growth in Japan).
They had to catch up with the rest of the world to be competitive. True,
some of the stuff from Taiwan (more so mainland China) is junk. The labor
there is extremely cheap.
But, I shall have to say that foreign-made aftermarket stuff is no better
than domestic. After all, domestic producers have to play the same game -
undercut their foreign competition. They will ultimately try to produce
cheaper aftermarket stuff as well just to be competitive.
So, before you folks turn away from foreign producers, consider what is
under your fingertips (keyboard and computer), and be thankful that you can
afford to have it to communicate on this list!
Just need to make y'all think.

Just a quick comment on imported auto parts. No matter how much flag waving
we
do
imports are here to stay. We can encourage suppliers to manufacture in our
home countries
but that is about it if you want parts available. Many people in our home
countries make their livings selling imports (so when you are feeling
patriotic take that into consideration). You can't stop an increasingly
global
economy ( Look at the labels in your shoes. I'll bet they are imported).
We
also need to take into account that this list is made up of people from
many
countries and what is imported to you may be local to them. What we need to
do
is lobby vendors to sell top quality parts whether
imported or manufactured locally.
