I sandblasted the bed of my '57 before putting in Rhino Coating. Do small areas at a time, and you will be fine. Or just take it to a pro that does sheet metal. I had my Austin Healey sandblasted completely--it has thin aluminum panels that are not available anywhere. I made sure the shop that did it was aware of this and it came back nice and straight.
