[oletrucks] 54 heater

Hi,

I have a 54 chevy 1/2 ton short box and have a question about the heater.  I
have a heater core that sits in the engine compartment, not in the cab.  I
have never seen another one like it.  It has a plate over the place in the
cab where a normal fresh air heater is normally located.   This plate is
painted the same color as the cab.

Does anyone have any information about this type of heater?  Was it an
option?
