First, I would like to thank all of those that responded.
A couple of things that I still don't understand about this learning
experience.
The problem seemed to be with the Firing Order.
The Firing Order that is cast on the intake manifold is:
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. However, the Firing Order that works is:
1-8-6-2-7-3-4-5.
I arrived at that firing order by looking at another engine, and when I
changed the plug wires to match, it started.
I haven't road tested it yet, but it is starting easier and running smother
than it did with the points.
It's been almost fifteen years since the truck has been on the road and now
it will have to wait a while more, until the price of gas goes down.
