Chris,
You should be able to find tires, tubes and boots for split rim wheels, and
I know Les Schwab in the NW worked on them at least a few years back. With
a couple of old tools you can "do it yourself"...Split rims have been known
to come apart when inflating if not put together correctly. I've never seen
it personally, but when that ring comes off with 100+ psi behind it, it
can/will cut you in half, and that will really ruin your day. Les Schwab
and other tire centers (mostly truck places) are required to put the
tire/rim in a "cage" while inflating. At best split rims are a missle
launcher waiting to toss that 30 lb ring! But Split rims were used for
many years.

Hey Guys-
A friend of mine has a '54 2 1/2 Ton Grain Truck that had been run on a
farm
for a long time and the tires are all rotting and he wants to know what he
can do about the split rims, do any of you guy still run these on your
trucks, and is there a place that sell modern rims that look like the split
rims. He's trying to restore it back to it old glory. He's having a
problem
getting any tire place to even touch these rims. They have all but told
him
that split rims are the devil reincarnated, are they? Thanks in advance.
