Dave,

There are a lot of options, new stuff from the dealer, (which may be
expensive?), Edelbrock has several options, their high pro system (#3500)
is priced at about $3000.00 for "everything you need" to go from carb to
new multi-port fuel injection, including a programmable
thingy...(http://www.edelbrock.com) and there is always donor cars,
(wrecking yards, or your local state surplus auto sales....(ex-cop cars!))
I havn't decided which way I'm going to go yet, The new stuff sounds the
best to me. I'm trying to build a daily driver that is "new", so I'm
looking for a fresh starting place rather than a grafted together system.
Last night I hooked up to the ole truck and pulled it up to the drive
way, and have been bitten by the bug to get it on the road again. (It's
been parked since '90) This is a ground up project, so I'm sure it won't be
on the road before late summer, but this is really the fun part!... I'll
try to document the project with pictures along the way.

Sheldon,
Dave here. I read your post to Cathie about replacing her 283, and
I got real interested when you mentioned putting a late model FI
engine in your 4x4. My summer project wil be updating my '57,
including renewing the '70 300hp 350 with low compression in 1
cylinder. I also want some better mileage out of my truck, as I hate
buying gas. Is there a book or something that describes all the
extra stuff that a later model engine requires, or is it a better idea
to use all the parts from a donor car? Any knowledge will be
appreciated. Thanks
