that you start at the front, remove the throwout collar, clutch gear etc,
before the rear section can be removed. So this means removing the
transmission before you start. But no need to disturb springs, axle etc,
just drop the driveshaft at the torque tube coupling behind the trans.

Speedo drive gear is on the U joint yoke on 4 speeds, so it comes off without
removing trans., just pull U joint. finding replacement gear set is
challenging. If set is mismatched it will chew up driven gear, which is
usually the one that is worn.
