Hi Greg.
Well, after a world-wide search, I seem to have found the answer to the head
torque problems here in NZ.
Advice from an engineer here (owned a three-wheeler ever since Adam played
short
stop for Toronto) - current owner of a beautiful Super Sports :
UNC 5/16 bolt torque 12-16 ft/lbs
3/8 bolt torque 28-34 ft/lbs
BSF 5/16 bolt torque 14-19 ft/lbs
3/8 bolt torque 33-38 ft/lbs
These figures are based on 50 tons/sq.inch bolts. Suggestion is that 20-28
ft/lbs with VHT High temp. head gasket spray (sealer) should do the trick.
Hey man, I'm Radar, but I think I can work it out!
I found an article in an old "Bulletin" - entitled "In Defence of Side
Valve" by J.Rowland - do you have it?
If not, I will scan it in and send it to you. Verrrrry interesting!
Canada? No, not planning on visiting. After quite a few years in the Navy,
I'm quite content to stay home. Haven't even seen our South Island (shame -
been round it about 5 times) but that is on the agenda - hopefully next
year.
Let me know about the article
Best regards
Gary
