I can sympathize with you chassis problems.  I ran in to similar problems
when I was restoring my +4 in the 1980s.  The whole chassis was too narrow
by 2 inches as I remember.  I am only glad that I was prudent enough to
measure everything before working on it.  I sent it back to the vendor and
got a new one.  You can bet I checked this one out very carefully against
the very rusty original before using it.
