Jeff,
I've always felt that 16 psi was a tad low. Exceeding the max pressure on
the sidewall ain't good either. Tire pressures have been checked on Mogs at
events we have staged. These have varied from below 10 to over 35 psi
(sometimes on the same car). A few spares have read zero! So what's correct?
Split the difference & run low to mid 20s, if you like the ride. I've run in
that range for a decade with no ill effects. A firmer tire rolls better, but
a softer tire gives you a softer ride with those lever shocks. After a
decade & 40k km, we still have the original front tires & luckily haven't
ever had a blow out. Is an under/over inflated tire less forgiving to a nail
or glass than a "correctly" inflated one?
I don't know, but some Mogs have had 4 blow-outs on the same trip! Jeff,
many don't sweat the small stuff. Don't worry....be happy. Drive the car.
That's been our experience. Use that gauge once in awhile. The important
thing is that all four tires are similar, both in pressure & type (and the
spare has some air)!

Cheers,
Fred Kuzyk
