the normal factory finishes would be nowhere near as carefully
considered as this!
Before 1986, the standard factory finish for the woodwork would be black
wood gloss, applied with a grotty hairy brush- most rebuilt Morgans are
therefore heavily "over restored". Post 1986, the finish has been bare
wood, soaked in cuprisil, giving it a grey/green tinge, but the grain is
clearly visible, under the trim- a new car will have more trim than an
older one.
Most restorations will be to a higher standard than the original build,
John Worrall, ("Original Morgan"), suggests finishing off with yacht
paint, the ingredients listed here seem to be a standard gloss and would
normally be expected to be impervious.
