The overdrive unit really doesn't affect anything, it slides off as a whole
unit. Replacing reverse will require disassembly of the transmission. So
while you are in there I would plan on replacing the synchros and any
bushings or bearings that look bad. The tranny is kind of a puzzle and it
can only be assembled in order. Just take your time and pay attention to
the instructions in the Bentley manual and you will be ok.
