Dan,
That has been the group consensus and appreciate everyone bringing me back to
reality - quickly. These are often impulse purchases. I was excited about the
prospect of a new project but was looking for less work as the kids are
playing ball, gymnastics, piano, karate.... and the wife refuses to park her
minivan on the street for the next year!
I will be passing on this one.

Outstanding article.
I did go look at the car. The owner said it ran just a few months ago but
we
couldn't get it started. Turned over easily. Had headligth but no turn
signals. The only serious rust I saw was under the driver floor board.
Sills
seemed solid. All the rubber is shot. It has a relatively new black vinyl
top, fuel pump, steering wheel, and alternator. Overall it looks like it
has
been kept it the garage as advertised but not very well maintained. Wire
wheels, 76,000 miles and no clutch tension I could feel. I didn't have the
correct plug adapter for compression testing. Not sure when last brake
maintenace done. Am going to sleep on it. Found Porters book on the net
and
is on order.
Will keep you posted!

Hello Everyone,
I will be evaluating a '69 MGB in the next 2 days to see if I want to add
it
to my stable. A friend at church knew I liked them and saw it in his
friend's father garage. He said it looked in good shape but is wasn't
running for who knows how long. He said he thought it could be purchased
for
$3000. Any specifics? I'm taking my compression tester and a battery.
Roger, buying Porter's book as suggested is a good idea, but if you want
so
quick info on buying an MGB, check here for several references -
