Thanks very much Charlie,

I would opt for a USA TD, if I was really looking for it now.
I just happend to see the TD and the owners wants to sell.
For me being busy with a new to built house and temp. renting a house there's
little money left over for an adventure with a TD - certainly not for 30K Euro.

Cheers,

Hans

  Hans,

Bob didn't comment on the price, which sounds quite high. It sounds like a
$10 - $12,000 US car here in the states. You would be better off locating a
nice one in the USA and having it shipped to you in Europe. There were two
recently in my area that were asking $14K and I believe $6K (needs work). I
don't know if they sold or not. I know of one in Florida for sale, but haven't
seen it since before it was restored 30 years ago. I can put you in touch with
the owner if you want. For $30K in the US you could get a very, very nice car.

  Charlie
'52 TD, nice driver (approx. $12K)
'52 TD, guest in my garage with Volvo B18 & OD (approx. $7K)

Hans,
TD bodies are all, as far as I know, type-numbered 22381.
Engine and car numbers should be found on a brass plate on the front
of toolbox, left side of the car.
Chassis number should be stamped on chassis dumb iron, left side,
under the front of the fender.
Engine number should also be found on a brass octagonal plate, right
side of engine, near the brass water drain valve.

Today when I was visiting my brother requesting for help with my
moving home job, he lead me to the apartment building basement, where
    all
  resident's cars are parked.
One of his neighbours has a TD - which traveled all over the world -
exported with US specs from UK directly to the USA bearing UK plates
all the time I have been told.

The car's state looks rather nice, altough the paint looks like a
hasty job (little bubble spots all over)

Car's data:
TD
Chrome = good
Paint (green) some little dents and paint quality not ideal
New exhaust en tyres
Year of make = 1951
UK reg plate = XSSV 414
Body type = 22381
Body no 11891/81739
All original papers are available incl all bills from new.

On the engine I found an MG logo as part of the casting block.
Further a number on the block: 5426K
Cyl head: 176 22952

State of the interior = very nice great leather seats.

Asking price = EURO 25,000.00 +/- US $ 30,000.00

Owner says car always has been family owned and well looked after -
no reason not to believe this.
Owner also says that this TD is one of the last one being built with
"TT" parts - whatever this means.

What can be said from the numbers?
Is this price reasonable (for Europe...)?
Where should I look for the engine serial number?

Any other hints?

Still would have to let go my GT - I restored from totally worn to
very nice
....

Cheers,

Hans
