It is possible to remove a non-overdrive tyranny from a rubber bumper B 
without removing the engine or destroying anything, but it takes getting the 
car high enough to be able to manhandle the tranny.  Remove the shifter, the 
crossmember, drive shaft, clutch hydraulics, etc, then twist the tranny and 
bring it out.

No matter how you do it, drill two large holes in the crossmember to allow 
you to get the tranny bolts in and out easily.
