Of course it *did* fail years ago - successive mergers from the 50s onwards
failing to stem the rot, being baled out by the Labour Government in the
Michael Edwardes era when Abingdon was closed, and money from British
Aerospace and BMW simply being life-support. The tenacity came from the
workforce, at all levels, and the MG spirit was alive and kicking right
through the production of the 'current', and very good, Z-series cars. But
without the funding that tenacity will have no outlet.
