I would concur with that Bill. 11 o'clock viewed from
the front seems about right regardless of AM or PM.
Nearest the 12 o'clock is TDC, then each notch going
anti-clockwise is 5 deg before TDC.
If you are using a timing light, you should ideally
disconnect (and plug) the vacuum advance line, then
set the timing to be about 12-15 deg BTDC at idle rpm.
A lot depends on the state of tune of your motor. You
may need a little more or a little less advance. Just
try to avoid the dreaded pinking under load.
