I hate to turn this into a DVD list but a couple of clarifications to
simplify all the DVD data flying about.
1) DVDs are a digital system, VHS is an analog system. Many if not
most TVs are still analog.
1a)Digital (dtv) systems are more flexible and provide more options and
capabilities than analog sytems.
1b)References to Pal, NTSC and SECAM are the three types of analog
systems
2) References to DVD, DVD players and TVs must be made in reference to
the specific system.
3)DVDs are formatted according to a digital standard not an analog
standard. DVDs are not PAL or NTSC they are DVD.
4)Many DVD players can take a DVD and output Pal to a Pal tv or NTSC
to an NTSC tv.
5) A DVD stamped "NTSC" means it plays only a 3X4 format instead of the
16 X 9 screen format that is often used in digital and you will not see
the wide screen 16 x 9 option. It is intended for NTSC tv playback.
6)Some DVDs may contain both a 3 X 4 format and 16 X 9 digital format
and let you choose the difference.
