I had to re-install mine after the last engine compartment
cleanup...
I too ended up with one of the 'rubber' pads rather than the older
style softer foam seals.  I kid you not... I had to stomp on mine
with my foot to stuff the heater box back down into place.
I had to trim out a bit of the rubber seal around the cable
attachment area to attach it, butt hen removed the bonnet completely
so I could stand on it to force it down into place.

Wow! right down in Crofton??!!  I'm just off Rt97 in Severn myself....,
west off exit 13 off Rt97 (Quarterfield Rd)  myself!  one exit
south of 100 and 97

Maybe  if needed..I could stop by and help you get
it back in.!  I'm at worst 15 minutes from you   :-)
