Just my $100 worth (inflation you know).
I just had the header tank on the "A" separate from the core last year.
My local rad shop procured a new core and reattached the sides, top and
bottom. I have idled in hot weather (90*) and she creeps up towards
200* but that's it. I have a MOWOG water pump; nothing fancy. Now if I
could figure out why the oil pressure reads 10 lbs. at idle and a
healthy 70 at speed. Rebuilt engine. I think I'm going to get one of
the updated pumps.
