Midget noise

Hello friends,
As you may have read, I have a '76 Midget that is
on a 1-year-old restoration.  It still looks great
and it runs great.  Lately, as I don't get to
drive it as often as one should, I have noticed a
noisey vibration that occurs in first gear only.
I have built a pile of the Spitfire engines but
have never had to get into the gearbox or clutch.

Anything that a vibration of this type might tell
you immediately?  Thanks.
