Over the years on this list lurking, I have heard many speak of replacing
the stock heater valve with a simple spigot job. I've had a leak for a few
days around mine, and upon inspection, the flange is badly warped and the
pipe is rusted, so it's time to replace. I want to be rid of the cable
operation forever (as in AZ I dont' need a heater anyway), so I want to know
what others have done. I went down to Lowe's today, and they didn't have a
thing that would work. Some guy there offered to help me, but then told me
to go to checker (I was wearing a NAPA shirt at the time!). So no help
there. I'm putting it back on with gasket maker in hopes that it will hold
until such time as I can replace it. Maybe I can get ready for the warm
weather and redo the heater (second radiator) next weekend. What all have
people used for this purpose?
long-winded as usual
