Just to add some confusion factor to this. My '70B just exhibited this
phenomenon last night (need to pull slightly backwards on the stalk to keep
lows on, highs are fine). In my case I replaced the switch about 4 years ago
during a restoration and I too have the Hella H4 replacements.

 I  don't think the Hella's have anything to do with this as I've probably
only driven the car at night for a total of about 3 or 4 hours since the
resto,  I'll measure the current draw to verify that it's not causing a
breakdown of the switch contacts. I suspect that either the contact are
oxidizing from lack of use or maybe some tolerance problem in the switch
itself (maybe we have the same batch).

If I have time tonight or tomorrow, I'll dig into it and report back.


FWIW, it was a Moss switch.
