This was my experience also. I was quite disappointed so I mentioned it to
the list but found that most people actually found it quite useful. It
would probably be very useful and quicker if the adjusters turn freely. A
little resistance and you are back to the feeler gauge. I will likely play
around with it again next time I need to adjust the gaps, maybe see what it
takes to insure the adjusting nuts/screws turn freely. It seemed like it
did work good on at least one of my three cars that need semi-annual valve
adjustments.
