7 sounds like the right number to me.

I've found the tool to be not very useful. If any of the tappets stick
just a little, such that you problem wouldn't notice with a screwdriver 
and wrench, it will fail and hang up. And maybe you don't notice.

I have a few that stick a bit. I used it once, but ended up checking 
everything with the feeler gauge anyway. So it didn't save any time.

Mostly, it saves a hand.
