Er, the clutch bit the dust, now you have to bite the bullet. FWIW I
wouldn't touch a ball-bearing release bearing again with a 10 foot barge
pole. They are an utterly pointless expense. Unless you 'ride the pedal'
the bearing should last the life of the clutch. And just think of the next
time you come to replace the clutch, are you really going to leave that old
release bearing in there? There is also the claim that you must also fit a
pull-off spring to stop the release bearing continually spinning and wearing
out anyway. I used such a bearing but didn't know about the pull-off spring
thing at the time. After just a few thousand miles the bearing started
squeaking just as the pedal starts to take up the load of the clutch.
Fortunately it hasn't got any worse since and the clutch otherwise operates
as it should. But I would never fit another.
