Some of the responses to Eric's question have been good. It is always a
search for the "magic bullet" when trying to cool a hot-running engine.
Just a quick FYI, here's what I did to my daily-driver, occasional racer:
1- Blanking sleeve replaced thermostat
2- Stock 2-core radiator modified into 3-core
3- Five 4-inch louvers on either rear corner of the bonnet
4- Oil cooler moved from top of radiator duct to bottom. That moves it out
of the way of the radiator & gets it behind the twin holes in the front
valance.
5- Frequent reverse flushing every time I change from antifreeze to water
and water-wetter for racing.
6- 10" electric fan
That does it in all conditions from stop & go rush-hour traffic, crawling
around cities and racing. The only time it overheats is when I forget to
turn the fan on when it is needed. And, no, I don't want a thermostatic
control, just a better memory. Anyone sell RAM chips for people?
