If you wish to keep a more original look, I have had good luck with Back to
Black by Mothers (avail at most chain auto parts stores).  When you first
begin applications, it doesn't seem to last very long, but the more you
apply it the longer it lasts.  My black bumpers are nearly back to their
original sheen.
