9:1 IS already low compression, at least by normal American hot rod
standards. I'm more familiar from a muscle car viewpoint (as opposed to
putting superchargers on a B engine) but on American hot rod engines, they
sometimes run as high as 12 and even 13.5:1 compression ratios on a normally
aspirated hot rod engine. When putting a GMC 671 supercharger on, say a
small block Chevy engine, a 9:1 compression ratio is deemed acceptable. This
is an easily verifiable fact. Why wouldn't the same hold true on a stout,
well built B engine?

If I was planning to put a supercharger on an engine, I would want to make
sure that the comression ratio is correct. I believe (may be wrong) that
you
have to use low compression pistons so that you w't blow the headgasket.
The
compression with the supercharger will be way above stock anyway.
