Sorry I ruffled your feathers, but I doubt of the lug nuts were specially
manufactured in England for our MGs. After seeing how beat up the ones I got
from VB on SALE for $29.95, I looked in my junkbox, and came up with 16 that
I picked out of a bucket at Carlisle. They were in better shape.
Yes, I said rip off, but I DIDN'T say they were just in business to do that.
But, what can we think when Napa 610-150 is the same pump that Moss sells
for about $80. Everyone sells them for about $36.00. J.C. Whitney in
addition to NAPA. Some sources sell then with a Purolator label pasted on
the side. I've driven all over the country in the MGC, which took us
dependably from Minneapolis to Portland, Oregon, covering 868 miles in 12
hours in the first day with one of these pumps. It was also under a hot sun
in 95+ degree weather. Glad I didn't have Lucas!
While I am flaming Moss lets remember the Donald Healey video that Moss
sells for $69.95. The video house that made the tape wants $29.95.
Then there were the MG models from Moss that I found out ....I could go on,
but enough said.
We do owe a debt of gratitude to Moss for what they do to help us, and
sourcing some of these parts made is almost an impossible task. We couldn't
have our cars without them. However, when I spend hours trying to get a part
to fit, or find I could have gotten the same part from another source at a
lower price, it is truly BUYER BEWARE! I wish I had a better attitude about
overpaying for some parts, but I was a child of the Depression, and I was
taught that money is precious. I did not originally plan to open this up to
a lengthy discussion, their prices are just one of the facts of life and
commerce.
