Thanks for all those that responded to my "RU" engine number mystery. I've
torn down the donor engine and find what seems like very little wear.
The main journals measure .0005" to .0007" under while rod journals measure
.0007" to .001" under.
My question....some machine shops are telling me that the only thing neede is
to polish the journals and put standard bearings back in. Others say that it
needs a regrind. What should the oil clearance be? My understanding is that
.002" under is acceptable. Is this right?
