OK, I guess I have never seen the "genuine item". The book I am referring to
is "The Complete Official MGB 1962-1974" by Robert Bentley, which contains
reprints of the Driver's Handbook, Workshop Manual, and Special Tuning
Manual. So once you're inside the cover it looks perfectly genuine. Now that
I look at my Moss catalog, I see that there are also reprints of just the
workshop manual available, but since the Bentley compilation costs less, I
can understand why it is more commonly seen, at least in the US. BTW the
Bentley cover is green just in the 62-74 MGB version -- other editions have
different color covers.
