How about a dynamic setting thermostat that's controlled by the oil 
temperature?  It shouldnt be too hard to hook them up.  I cant help but think 
the more constant the parameters on the engine, the more reliable the output. 
 If it could only be made to work with cables and linkages and somehow 
transport small amounts of oil, then MG could make its long promised 
comeback.
