okay, the sun is shining and suddenly i can't open the drivers side
door..
when i bought the car that door didn't close quite flush (that is,
the back edge stuck out about an eighth inch (or little more) into
the slip stream)..
i was about to drive away when my friend noticed that, said 'wait a
second', grabbed a screwdriver and adjusted the striker..
that was about two weeks ago..
about a week ago suddenly one day i couldn't open the door from the
inside..it felt like it was locked..i put in the key turned it one
way then the other and the door opened okay..
earlier today the same thing happened and i "unlocked" the door
with the key again and decided to write you fine folks to find out
what to do about a door that locks itself..
BUT, now it has happened again and it won't "unlock"--i've pull the
outside handle about as hard as i dare...and pushed down on the
inside handle almost too hard (it bent a little)...and the door is
fast shut..
i now suppose the striker screws were not as tight as they should
be or SOMETHING is going on to hold the door closed as i try to
open it with the handle..
before i ruin the thing i thought someone here might have some good
advice??
anyone seen this before? what is the "trick"?
please..
