Actually, that's not strictly true. About half the tire's height is exposed
below the bodywork, and I have seen test results showing that the "base"
models of vehicles, equipped with skinnier tires, had lower drag than the
"performance" variants, fitted with wider wheels and tires. But I agree that
it is at most a minor factor in the issue under discussion.
