Andy,

    Is there a chance that you have a late model, vented MGB fuel tank?  In my
'77 there is a vent line directly behind the filler neck.  A hose goes from it
to the vapor separator on the inside of the right rear fender.  I think the
filler necks are different on the pre and post leaded gas era tanks.  I also
think that the fuel level sending unit only uses one wire, ground provides the
return path.
