To the best of my knowledgs, it is legal anywhere in the US. Question is,
why would you want to do that? Passing an a two lane road can be quite
difficult when you can't see around the big rig in front of you.

I've personally never approached the procurement problem, but if you can
get all the parts I think it's a bolt in job, as the cars were built either
way on the same assembly line.
