I had a question concerning my '79 mgb on the highway. I have a stock
engine, with a Weber DGV Carb, and the standard 4 speed w/o overdrive. When
I get on the highway, I normally get up to about 60-65 mph. When I get there
I have plenty of pedal left, but I am whining 3400-3500 rpms. I have gotten
it a little higher, just to make sure it could still do it, but is this
normal? I would like to find a cheap, but effective way to get more speed at
top end with fewer rpms. If this is not normal for this kind of car, I would
like some help troubleshooting this problem. I have to make a long trip in
it soon, from Virginia to Florida, then to Mississippi. I would like to see
the car run strong without running itself to death.
