I took the pan off my 74 mgb that was knocking it had a rod bearing
out,it was in the bottom of the pan in pieces. The crank looks
undamaged,no nicks, gouges, etc. is this unusual as i was driving the
car when it started knocking?I plan on replacing that one rod bearing
and getting back on the road, any reason not to?Is there anything i could
use to make sure the crank journal is smooth?I seem to remember using
emery cloth but its been a million years since i rebuilt
anything<grin>.Will the bearing shape to any small imperfections i'm
unable to find?By the way had lots of fun removing the pan without
lifting engine or removing anything.
