I installed the "full Peco" (a la "full monty") a couple of months ago
on my '65 and with the header it was a perfect fit. I have the tube
shocks too, and simply by rotating/fiddling with the muffler and the two
connecting pipes I was able to gain plenty of clearance. The only
modification I made was to paint it flat black! Whole job took less
than two hours, but I was installing a new engine and the old exhaust
was already out.
It will be more difficult without the header. You will have to
fabricate an adapter for the connector pipes and work out the clearance
issues, but it will be worth it. It is a great system!
