Water Pumps can cavitate just like outboard motor props and aircraft props if you run the pump too fast. Under racing conditions the pumps are being driven alot faster than under normal driving conditions. You can improve the efficiency of the pump by cleaning up all the casting imperfections although the newer alluminum die cast parts are alot smoother than the old cast iron used in older MGs. Blake |
