Man, this sounds dangerous! Let me get this straight -- you are
advocating dropping a car off a jack, with the motor running, in gear...
jeepers. You may also want to clear the area of children, pets, SOs, and
insurance agents. Yow. I suppose if it doesn't do the trick, the only
other thing likely to break is the u-joints...
Maybe I'm just a chicken, but... (cluck, cluck)
Bruce Burrows had this to say:

>OK let's see. I think you will need a helper.
>
>Jack under differential to get both rear wheels off the ground. Block
>front wheels. In gear (not reverse!) but depress clutch. Start the
>car.
>
>When rear wheels are turning real good, drop the jack abruptly.
>
>Throughout this exercise the clutch pedal is fully depresssed. Be ready
>to cut ignition if car lurches forward. Alternatively, you can run car
>up to some immovable object prior to jacking. I prefer the blocks.
>
>Good luck and, uh, you may want to use old rear tires for this.
