Yes, that will work. Make sure the two speakers are connected in phase.
That means, make sure to hook the pos. speaker wire to the pos. terminal on
each speaker. It you connect it to the pos. on one and the neg. on the
other, the speakers will move out of phase and the sound will suffer. It's a
minor point and won't hurt anything if you do it incorrectly, but you might
as well do it right. New speakers will either be marked + and -, or one
terminal will have a red dot indicating pos.
There will be a minor impedance mismatch, but with only two speakers it won't
matter.
