Barney,
I was just searching through the archive for info on the inverted oil
filter. I have a 70B that I am half way through rebuilding the block (got
the crank, pistons, cam, and timing on) and hoping to finish it up this
weekend. My block has an inverted filter assembly. Do you still recommend
the NAPA Gold 1068 (found in archive post), any others?
BTW, I put together one of your handy dandy engine carriers last night with
1x6 pressure treated (left overs from the fence). It feels very solid. I
only derivated from your plan slightly. Instead of cutting in reliefs for
the oil drain plug and bulge I increase the width to 10 inches (yours 9.5).
I figured that the strength of the wood may be compromised if I cut into it,
could flex. Where as the block will not flex. Great gadget!
On another note if you have any suggestion on checking out a o/d
transmission that I bought last year (no idea of internal condition) I would
appreciate it. I plan on replacing the gaskets and end seals. I haven't
dealt with transmissions before but I have done a few engine rebuilds, just
to let you know my level of experience.

BTW I copied the list for added input and so you don't have to repeat
yourself.
