Mine are displaying the same syndrome. Looking at the taillight, it is 
obvious that there is some kind of short, since the left brake light 
flashes feebly in sync with the slow left turn signal. Both bulbs are far 
dimmer than the quick-flashing right blinker.

Paul's excellent Spanners website suggests that this could indicate a 
poor ground connection, possibly even at the front turn signal. I have 
been cleaning connections and have noticed an improvement in blink rate, 
but have not eliminated the "crossover" effect yet.
