That number is definitely NOT an MGB chassis number -- that would look 
something like this: GHN5UA200000G. It's not an MGB engine or body number 
either. Did you find this number on the car or in the documentation? 
Generally the VIN plate also has some printed information about the 
company, country of origin, date of manufacturer, etc.

vehicle have a permanent top, or is it a convertible? does it have a rear 
seat? any idea when it was manufactured? what about badges?

I'm afraid it will take a little more information to identify this car.
